This document outlines
the privacy policies of Region I EMS. In addition, a Terms
of Service Agreement is provided. By using the Region I EMS
website, you voluntarily agree to the notices provided in this
document without any objection. For future reference,
"Region I EMS" shall apply to Nix Web Development,
Region I EMS, the State of Georgia, Georgia Department of Human
Resources, Georgia Division of Public Health, and any other
affiliated entities, organizations, employees, and/or contracted
individuals.

Commitment To Privacy:
Region I EMS values your privacy.
This is why we make available our privacy policy and terms of
service agreement statement. You should familiarize yourself
with our policies. Your continued use of the Region I EMS
website constitutes consent and agreement to the terms and
conditions outlined in this document.
The
Information We Collect:
Your visit to the Region I EMS
website is anonymous, with some exceptions. Region I EMS
does not obtain personal identifiable information from your
computer. We do, however, obtain the IP address of your
internet service provider whenever you visit our website.
This information is statistically calculated so that we know from
which geographical areas our visitors come. Our web server
automatically captures this information. We do not
personally identify your IP address unless requested to do so by
law enforcement agencies.
The Region I EMS web server
calculates the pages viewed during your visit and the duration of
your visit. We do not, however, receive a report of each
individual's website behavior.
Visitors may voluntarily provide
information about themselves, including real name, email address,
USPS address, telephone number, etc. where requested. By
providing this information, you do so on a voluntary basis.
This information is not required to access the website.
Cookies may be used by various
pages within the Region I EMS website. These cookies do not
identify you personally to the Region I EMS staff. They are
encoded by programs used within the Region I EMS website so that
they are made difficult to read by us. Cookies are used to
facilitate your visit. They make it easier to participate in
message boards, our training calendar, or our news area. In
these areas, the cookies allow you to automatically log in without
needing to enter a password or user ID. Additionally,
cookies may be used by voting programs to register if you have
already voted on a particular subject.
The Way We Use
Information:
Region I EMS utilizes the
information gathered to better serve you. IP addresses are
obtained and statistically analyzed so that we can know where our
visitors are coming from. Your viewing habits on our website
allow us to see which areas of our website are most popular.
We do not identify the pages that each individual views.
Instead, we are presented with total numbers of each page viewed,
the percentage of visitors who viewed a particular page, and the
average length of time viewing the page.
We may at times request personal
information from you. This information, as outlined above,
is voluntarily submitted by you. Region I EMS will attempt
to maintain strict confidentiality with the information we obtain.
Region I EMS does not sell, rent, or lease information obtained
from our website to any third party, including companies and
non-profit organizations.
During a criminal investigation,
we may make available all information about you to local, state,
and/or federal law enforcement agencies. This information
may include your IP address, email address, real name, etc.
This information will be provided voluntarily to any law
enforcement agency who requests this information for the purpose
of facilitating a criminal or civil investigation.
Our
Commitment To Data Security:
The Region I EMS website does not
maintain sensitive data, such as credit card numbers, social
security numbers, etc. In the event that we implement
systems that request this information, then we will implement
plans to protect the data we gather.
Information that you voluntarily
submit, such as email address, real name, license numbers, social
security numbers, etc. can and may be accessed by the general
public. Information posted on our Guestbook or Message Board
may be read by anyone. Therefore, you are cautioned to
exercise due judgment before participating in these areas.
For those who are concerned
about their privacy, it is generally unacceptable to post your
full name, email address, social security number, EMT or paramedic
license number, or place of employment on one of our forums.
Our
Commitment To Children's Privacy:
Protecting the privacy of the very
young is especially important. For that reason, we never
collect or maintain information at our website from those we
actually know are under 13, and no part of our website is
structured to attract anyone under 13. Children under the
age of 13 are required to obtain parental permission to continue
using the Region I EMS website. Parents who are concerned
about their children using the Region I EMS website should contact
Region I EMS to have their questions and concerns answered.
How You Can
Access or Correct Your Information:
Region I EMS will make available,
upon written request, any information contained in our files about
you. To protect your privacy and security, we will also take
reasonable steps to verify your identity before granting access or
making corrections. To obtain your records, send a written,
signed request along with a photocopy of a picture ID to:

There may be a charge for this if your request is unreasonable.
Use of
Communications Forums:
Region I EMS offers a message
board, guestbook, and occasionally a chat room for our visitors to
interact with each other. By participating in these forums,
you agree to the following:
- The information you provide
on these forums is accessible to the public. This
information will be viewed by other members of the public.
Therefore, you are encouraged to exercise good judgment in
protecting your privacy.
- You will refrain from using
derogatory language, including, but not limited to, cursing;
harassment; defamation of character to individuals and/or
businesses/organizations; making racial, sexual, religious, or
other inappropriate comments; divulging personal information
that may be used to identify patients or their families; etc.
- You will not violate another
person's privacy by exposing him or her.
- You will not misrepresent
yourself (i.e., as another person), your background, your
level of training, or character.
- You will not post any messages
that support unlawful activity, that divulges sensitive
information that may be used for criminal intent, or any
material which is knowingly false.
- Posting of copyrighted material
is prohibited, unless prior written permission is obtained.
If permission has been obtained, then please state so in your
communications.
- You will not post advertisements
for items for sale, rent, lease, etc. You will not post
advertisements for items wanted for purchase, rent, lease,
etc.
- Region I EMS does not accept
liability for posts by its visitors. While we will
make every attempt to delete any offensive posts, Region I EMS
cannot guarantee that posts contained within our site will be
free of offensive material. By participating in the
Region I EMS forums, you do so at your own risk. You
agree to release from liability any damages incurred while
visiting a Region I EMS forum or the Region I EMS website.
Accuracy
of Medical Information:
The Region I EMS website contains
medical education material from Region I EMS and from outside
sources. Region I EMS does not warrant nor validate any
information presented within our website. Medicine is an
ever-changing science. For this reason, it is up to each
visitor to ensure the accuracy of the information we present.
You, the visitor, agree to hold Region I EMS harmless from any
damages incurred while using any medical information we provide.
You also agree to verify any medical information obtained from the
Region I EMS website prior to implementing any changes in patient
care or rationale.
Release
of Liability:
Region I EMS maintains this website
as a courtesy to the EMT's, cardiac technicians, paramedics,
firefighters, and other public safety personnel that work within
Region I. In addition, we also make available our website to
the general public. We do not warrant the information we
provide on our website unless specifically stated. By using
our website, you agree to accept all liability for using the
Region I EMS website and agree to release Region I EMS from
liability for any damages incurred while visiting this website.
This release of liability shall include, but shall not be limited
to, downloading of programs, contamination with viruses, erroneous
medical information, information contained within outside links,
messages written by other visitors, etc. By using the Region
I EMS website, you accept all responsibility and agree to this
term.

Links:
As a courtesy to our visitors,
Region I EMS makes available off-site links on occasion.
These links are generally denoted by an asterisk (*) or other
special symbol. Off-site links are not maintained by Region
I EMS. Region I EMS does not warrant nor endorse any
off-site links which we make available. We merely make them
available for your convenience. By following an off-site
link, you do so at your own risk. When visiting an off-site

limited to, Region I EMS personnel, EMS personnel of Region I EMS
agencies, news media, and/or commercial sources. All images
used on the Region I EMS website are used with permission of the
owner. All images, unless specifically stated otherwise, are
copyrighted. Individuals who wish to use, reproduce, or
modify images contained within the Region I EMS website should
contact Region I EMS. We will make every attempt to connect
you with the owner of a specific image.
External linking to any image
contained within the Region I EMS website is forbidden unless
prior express written permission is obtained. Direct linking
includes utilizing images contained within our website by
incorporating them into your encoded HTML page or by directly
linking to an image file by which users must click a link to see
the image. Both of these are not allowed. Direct
linking by embedding images into your encoded HTML page is
considered bandwidth theft, and is punishable by guidelines
outlined in our Criminal Acts Against

the Region I EMS Name and/or Logo
The Region I EMS name and logos,
including the Region I EMS graphic, www.nwgaems.org
name, the Ambuglances logo, and the Ambuglances name may not be
used without express written permission. The human logo icon
is the property of the Georgia Department of Human Resources and
is used under authority of Region I EMS.
Criminal
Acts Against the Region I EMS Website:
Deliberate and intentional attempts
to crack, hack, deface, or institute a Denial of Service (DoS)
attack on the Region I EMS website is a violation of federal law.
This notice shall also apply to excessive use of scripts and/or
other programs maintained on the Region I EMS website.
Stealing bandwidth, graphics (including linking to our graphics),
files (including linking to our files), etc. are considered
criminal acts. Violators will be referred to the Computer
Crimes Division of the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
Fines and/or imprisonment may result from criminal acts against
our website. Additionally, we may seek legal action to
recover any and all monetary damages caused by such criminal acts.
Direct linking of graphics files
(i.e., embedding links to our graphics files into your HTML
document so that they display when the HTML document is read from
your server) is punishable by a fine of $1 per incident if prior
written permission has not been obtained.
