David
Loftin, BA
NREMT-P Coordinator
David has been serving EMS since
1974. He is a graduate of Coosa High School in
Rome. He attended EMT school at Coosa Valley Technical
College and paramedic school at Dekalb Community
College. David also holds a bachelor of arts degree in
chemistry and psychology from Berry College.
David serves as the coordinator of
Region I EMS. His job is to ensure proper delivery of
pre-hospital services within the region. Part of his duties are to inspect ambulances, ensure compliance with state rules and regulations, and to oversee all EMS activities within the region. David is a
nationally registered paramedic, but he has since retired from
clinical practice.

Jim
Cutcher, AS
NREMT-P Training Officer
Jim has been involved with EMS
since the mid 70's and only recently retired from clinical practice. His EMS career was primarily with Hutcheson Medical Center EMS in LaFayette. He is a graduate of Baylor High
School in Chattanooga, TN. He attended EMT and paramedic
school at Chattanooga State Community College. Jim also
holds an Associate of Science degree in emergency medical
services from the International School of
Correspondence.
Jim currently serves as the Region
I EMS training officer. His job is to coordinate, teach,
and monitor continuing education courses in Region I. Jim has the authority to approve, reject, and to regulate all training courses within the region.
Jim is a nationally registered paramedic who is actively involved in teaching throughout the tri-state area.

Linda
Avery Administrative Assistant
Linda is a graduate of West Rome
High School. She completed a program in medical
transcription at Coosa Valley Technical College.
For those who know Linda, they know
she's the person who is the busiest at the Region I
office. Linda's job description includes just about
everything in the book. When you call the Region I
office, it is usually her friendly voice that is the first to
answer the phone.

Jill Mabley,
MD Medical Director*
Dr. Mabley is an experienced emergency physician with many years of service in the Region I area. She now
serves as the full-time medical director of Cherokee Fire and Emergency Services
in Canton, Georgia. She earned her medical degree from
Rush University College of Medicine in Chicago,
Illinois. She trained in internal medicine at
Rush-Presbyterian-St Luke's Medical Center in Chicago, and is currently
board certified in emergency medicine by the American Board of Emergency Medicine.
The Region I EMS medical director
"signs off" on the regional EMS protocols. She advises the Region I EMS office and the EMS council on medical
issues. Her duties are also to coordinate the efforts of all EMS agency medical directors on issues related to the region.

A.
Richard Gray, MD Trauma
Consultant*
Dr. Richard Gray is an
experienced general surgeon and is now retired from private
practice. He spent many years as a practicing surgeon at Floyd Medical Center's level II trauma center and was actively involved with trauma care in the region.
He is responsible for the
design and implementation of the trauma system in northwest
Georgia. The system design includes trauma center designation,
monitoring patient destination and air transportation.

Rick Cobb,
EMT-P EMS Council Chair*
Rick serves as chair of the
Region I EMS council. His duties are to coordinate the EMS council
meetings and maintain order during the meetings. Rick
is a long-time paramedic and a supervisor at Whitfield
County EMS in Dalton, Georgia. He also serves as the Region I
Chaplain.

Eric
Nix, MD NREMT-P Web Administrator*
Eric, a former Region I paramedic, has been involved with EMS
since 1993. He attended EMT school at Chattahoochee
Technical College and paramedic school at Coosa Valley
Technical College. Eric holds a Bachelor of Science
degree with honors in biology from Shorter College and a Doctor of
Medicine degree from Mercer University.
Eric is the web administrator for the
Region I EMS website and is a resident physician with the
Section of Emergency Medicine at Yale New Haven Medical Center
in New Haven, Connecticut. He still maintains active interests in pre-hospital and tactical/operational medicine.
